What is the FSP Certification?
The Forensic Scheduling Professional (FSP) is a certification that represents an individual’s proficiency in keeping a construction project on track or investigating the reasons for any delays. The certificate can be obtained to highlight the skills of someone who has already been working within the field for a number of years or can be used to help someone with little experience in the area advance into new professional roles. The FSP certification is well suited for those looking for work as either a delay analyst or a forensic schedule analyst. Gaining this certification is one of the best choices for starting a long and rewarding career in this field. FSP professionals are qualified and competent to work with expert witness reports, can help mitigate construction delays, and can handle commercial disputes related to delay. They may also assess the financial and contractual impact of such delays. Furthermore, FSPs are able to determine the root cause of delays and the effect of delays on a schedule by using various schedule analysis techniques appropriate for a particular project. They can also help maximize revenue and mitigate potential losses.
Why Should You Choose the FSP Certification? The FSP certification is ideal for those who currently work in a professional area such as planning, project control or contract administration but do not have the relevant qualifications to begin working in forensic schedule analysis. It is a complex area of construction and becoming proficient in this area will make you desirable to employers and increase your job prospects. After you have completed the professional level FSP certification you will then be able to progress to expert and master levels, which can help you to reach senior level roles within a company.
Why Are Businesses Looking for FSPs?
Any delay is costly to a construction company, but by analyzing schedule management within projects, FSPs can help prevent potential project delays or determine the reasons for costly delays. Because FSPs can help companies save money, contractors, consultants, and clients find their skills highly valuable. Individuals who have an FSP give employers the confidence that they have the relevant skills and competencies to complete these tasks well. This certification adds to individual’s skillset and improves their employability. Furthermore, businesses would have hired highly productive employees who will benefit their business greatly.
How to Get the FSP Certification
The FSP certification includes four courses of live online study followed by an exam (open-book online exam) that students are required to pass in order to obtain their certification. The exam will assess your proficiency in claims consulting. You will be required to answer four questions that will assess your understanding and your ability to apply knowledge to real-life working environments and challenges. In this way, the exam is looking for your practical skills rather than your academic ability. In order to pass the test, students must achieve a score of 50 percent or higher.
The course is different than many similar academic courses because it is a professional, practice-based program conveniently offered online.
